Last week we decided to take our boys and find a tree. The boys aren't at our home on Christmas Eve or Day, and so Ben and I have purposed to make Christmas traditions for our family that we can do on other days. One of those is hunting a tree. My boys take it very seriously. I called a tree farm nearby and asked them to stay open just a little later than normal so we could get there after work and they were so nice about it.
Here are the hunters. Ready to find just the right tree this year.
I can't believer how big they're getting. Pretty soon they won't be interested in doing family activities. We take advantage of it right now. They love being with us for the time being. I can't imagine a greater or more rewarding job than being a mother.
Aidan didn't realize how cold it gets when the sun goes down. His big brother ran all the way back to the car to get his coat for him, but until he got back, he made due with mine. He thought it was pretty funny. I, on the otherhand, thought it was cold.
Aidan really wanted a Charley Brown tree. He begged and begged, but Ben wouldn't hear it. It had to be huge. A little one like this just wouldn't cut it.
Tristan desperately wants to be tall. Every week we have to measure him to see if he's grown, even an 1/8 of an inch will due. Here he is standing on the stump of a tree that was cut down earlier. If nature won't help him, at least he can pretend to be tall!
I love how beautiful the sky is behind my boy. It was a wonderful day.
He's getting big. He enjoys helping Daddy Ben out with "man's work". Ben enjoys being able to teach him things. He's so patient and is a great dad.
THAT'S MY MAN!!! He's on his knees cutting the tree down. I love him so much. Thank you Lord for a man that not just fell in love with me, but my "baggage" as well!
Here we are Mom!!! We got the tree. It almost eluded us, but with all three of us on the scent, it couldn't hide for long! We are men.
After a long hard time of hunting, they needed sustanance to keep their strength up. Cookies and cider do the trick.
